A-ha! I finally have a post of substance.

So, for a little backstory... my dad sells antique stuff on eBay for a living.  Lately he's been dipping into selling for other people, for a charge of 25% (which includes shipping) of the item cost (which is cheap considering most business take about 35-50%).  So, my dad's got this one old lady he's been selling for... some crazy old stuff.  Antique phones (you know, the kind that you talk into the fixture on the wall, and hold a piece to your head)... old farm equipment, junk like that.  But the coolest part is she lives out in this very desolate country area just five minutes from my house, with only a couple homes/farms/land.  Very beautiful area.  Now, the coolest COOLEST part is that her house is the only one not abandoned.  Construction companies bought the other homes, farms, and land... and it's all left for demolition.  While dad was collecting and documenting things, I wandered around the property next door to her.

I didn't start at the front of the house... I actually started from the back to the front, but I figured this photo was appropriate to introduce you to this spooky place.  I was just waiting for someone to come out of the house with a shotgun, yelling at me to get off of the property.  Or even worse, some crazy old lady with demonic powers to come floating out and eat my head.  Yeah, I guess I've seen too many horror movies.

This is where I began.  Dad and I were trying to figure out what this is.  It's behind the house, and in front of the barn.  Chicken coop?  Maybe?  Either way, it was rather disheveled.

Hello, mossy broken fense.

Here's the back of the house.  I'm not going to lie... I was scared of being attacked.  But honestly, nobody lived there.  I knew this... but I was still afraid.  Who knows, there are such things as squatters.  Even though I knew that wasn't plausible either, cause it was a very nice area.

Now, let's get closer.

How creepy!  Right?  I can just imagine someone sitting in that chair with a shotgun waiting to kill any Mothman that comes out of the cornfield.  Okay, so it was probably a very old lady that would sit out there at night, knitting a sweater and some booties for her grandkids, but whatever.  I'm good at scaring myself.

When I was taking this picture, I was CONVINCED someone was going to poke their head up with some crazy demonic eyes and face.  I couldn't get so lucky.

My dad's disappointed that this is as close to the window I got.  He said he wanted me to poke around.  He even asked me if I tried to open the door. Hahaha.  I was like, umm, I don't think so!

Again, waiting for someone to poke their head up and cast some demonic bats on me.

Now, behind the house (and in front, and on the side) was a giant, winding cornfield.  So, of course, I went.  Nothing crazy or creepy or scary or dead bodies or anything.  Just some interesting looking untended corn, a few rodents, some pretty bugs, a Hawk floating above me the entire time, and lots and lots and lots of deer, fox, and other animal tracks.

Nearby there was a few things (pots, birdhouses, boxes) with INSANE amounts of bullet holes.  I only took a picture of the pot, but it's not interesting enough to post.  Just imagine a flower pot with lots of holes. ;)

There was also pleeeenty of piles of beer cans.  Not just a beer can here or there, but about a pile of 24 cans sitting here, a pile of 12 cans sitting there.  So, I can imagine it's quite the party spot at night.  Hahaha.

Anyway, the rest are just corn-

Hey pretty guy. :)

You know, you never really think of a cornfield as being "loud".  But walking through the field, there were moments in which I could have SWORN there was somebody (He Who Walks Behind the Rows??) or something behind me.  I guess I've seen WAY too many horror movies.

Tons of more pictures, but I'm going out to eat.  But like I said, there are a few more properties I can explore.  Dad wants to go back and look through the homes... lol.  I guess we're going to do that sometime soon while fall is still... falling. Before everything is dead.  I think it would be really neat to go out there when it snows too.  The lady just called and invited us to a dinner party on the 23rd... and said dad and "his lovely daughter" are invited around anytime.  She said I could come back even without him... but gosh, if I was so afraid wandering around outside this house with people on the next property next to me... how would I be by myself?  :)

Anyway, I had fun!  :)

Let's just not talk about the internet problems today!  Pain in the ass!!

Wow, those are the most interesting pictures I've seen in a while. That's the prettiest corn I've ever seen. You're very talented! What kind of camera did you use?

By the way, I get the same feeling about that house as you do, I'm half expecting a single toothed man with oil slicked hair to poke his head from under the window and yell "get offa mah property, heathens!" The fact that there's a fan and chair there is weird. I don't know if you've ever seen it, but I also think of The Outsiders when Ponyboy and Johnny hide out after killing the Soc. haha

Oh wow, thank you so much!! I thought the corn was really pretty too. When my dad saw me coming out of the cornfield, he was like: "What do you think you'd possibly find in a cornfield?!" I showed him the pictures and he was like "They really looked like that!?" hahaha. I was surprised myself. Oh, I use a Canon Powershot Pro 1. It's a few years old, and it wouldn't hurt to upgrade it at this point... but I love it too much.

Hahaha, yeah, that's seriously what I thought was going to happen. My imagination works too much sometimes! I know exactly what you're referring to in The Outsiders... I didn't even think of it at the time though.

Thanks again!! It really means a lot! :)
